Sophia first visited Bocas del Toro in early 2015 and quickly fell in love with the place and its people, especially the island of Isla Bastimentos and Old Bank, also known as Bastimentos. Born and raised in the wine country of Northern California, Sophia is well traveled and has journeyed throughout the U.S., Mexico, Panama and Europe. She also lived for many years in Kenya. Sophia married Rene, a local Panamanian, in a lovely ceremony on the beach at Isla Zapatilla. The couple are proud parents of a daughter. Sophia’s background in the hospitality industry and Rene’s knowledge of Bocas del Toro’s local sites and activities make them perfect hosts for your trip to Isla Bastimentos. Surrounded by family and friends, they have made a lovely home in Bastimentos, and look forward to sharing the natural beauty of the sea and rain forest, and the charm of the local people and the guests who visit from around the world.
